Radiology

What means dental radiology?

Dental radiology is a complementary service to dental medicine.

The investigation machines use X-rays and together with dedicated software create anatomical volumes in a maximum percentage. This means that the dentist can investigate both hard structures (teeth, bones) and partially soft parts.

These investigations may reveal dental conditions not seen on clinical examination, disorders, variations and deep bone structures.

These investigations help the doctor in making the diagnosis and establishing the treatment plan, taking into account bone densities and volumes, anatomical structures within bone volumes.

Dedicated software in this field can analyse and simulate the accepted treatment plan, they are useful in the execution of precise measurements, surgical guides and the execution of metal parts for facial reconstruction.

Modern devices have a low irradiation dose according to the ALADA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle..

Radiology and dental imaging

The M&M Dental Team clinic uses the 3D CT Sirona Orthophos SL 3 D imaging machine with cephalostat is now in our clinic. Compared to panoramic radiography, this type of investigation is currently the most efficient and accurate method of dental investigation and more. The results are generated in 3D format, which makes the information more precise and detailed. CBCT dental tomography is useful in several branches of dentistry.

Radiology imaging is necessary for both adults and children. That’s why we have chosen high-performance X-ray equipment with the lowest irradiance.
These can be: implantology, surgery, orthodontics, ENT, endodontics, periodontology, pathology.

Localization of anatomical structures, measurement of arches, shape and size of dental arches in sagittal axial and panoramic plane and, if necessary, the most suitable area for insertion of a dental implant, rapid detection of lesions or abnormal formations are just some of the advantages of 3D digital dental investigation. The time of the interventions will be reduced and possible complications during the interventions will be reduced. As far as the implant is concerned, the safety of the insertion is ensured by 3D measurements and simulations performed prior to insertion.

Other advantages:

  • Severe reduction in radiation levels compared to traditional classical radiology;
  • Possibility of computer image processing;
  • The clearly superior image quality compared to traditional film;
  • Time saving: digital radiographs appear on the computer in real time, with the possibility of electronic transmission to the specialist and the patient;
  • Environmental care: no chemicals are used for development.
Advantages of using the 3D CT scanner in the clinic:
  • Fast and accurate diagnosis, having a high degree of accuracy, thus helps the doctor to get a spatial image of the affected area and can make an immediate diagnosis;
  • Minimum radiation exposure;
  • Ensures a comfortable patient experience;
  • It supports in the identification of diseases in almost all branches of dentistry: implantology, endodontics, orthodontics, maxillofacial surgery, periodontology, cervical spine diseases with dental implications;
  • It is a way to control the quality of the medical act, the patient can know his situation before and after the end of the treatment;
