The subperiosteal implant 🦷 is a titanium frame (skeleton), specially manufactured to rehabilitate the toothless areas of the jaw and mandible. It is inserted subgingivally and is attached to the bone, on its outside, with the help of fixing systems. 🔩
It is the only type of implant that does not require the addition of bone, it being made according to a perfectly individualized plan, using the anatomical structures present in the jaw and mandible. The patient’s area of interest is scanned and, based on the CT images, a 3D model is created 🌐 with the help of medical equipment specially created to analyze dental problems in detail.
In this way, the doctor can make the best decision regarding the contour, thickness and positioning of the subperiosteal implant components. The investigation, establishment of the treatment plan, surgical guidance and surgical insertion procedure are carried out at the M&M Dental Team Clinic, and the titanium frame is made in partnership with the 3 D Fast Company in Padua, Italy.
The subperiosteal implant is a custom-made titanium frame. It is designed to rest on top of the mandibular bone, below the periosteum, and is stabilized by a combination of fibrous tissue and bone support. Peri-mucosal extensions provide support and attachment of the prosthesis. The need for subperiosteal implants arose from the failure of removable mandibular prostheses to provide adequate function for the edentulous patient.
